The new summer menu at Sorrento in ShangriLa New Delhi was curated by Chef Massimiliano Sperli. We were blindfolded and asked to name all the ingredients in the dish. Unfortunately, I could not guess all of them correctly.
A dish called “Do Not Be Stupid Tonight”
What followed was a stupendous meal of really interestingly named dishes. The antipasti was fried black cod in parsley and basil batter, mild spicy chard, fennel and orange zest salad, red capsicum and thyme sauce. This dish was called “Do Not Be Stupid Tonight” and it was absolutely delicious.
Homemade agnolotti
After this there was a dish called ‘A Starry Summer Night’. I just loved the names. This was nothing but homemade agnolotti filled with eggplant, smoked scamorza cheese, tomato and basil, grilled calamari, tuna orange carpaccio, mortadella sauté, Jerusalem artichoke and mint sauce.
The desserts are sensational
This was followed by roasted lamb loin, passion fruit pannacotta and the grand finale was rich chocolate semifreddo. Don’t miss out these dishes when you go to Sorrento next and ask for wine pairing.
